On-Line Security
Shortly after the Internet became popular, someone
suggested that it wasn't safe to make purchases online because
unscrupulous people could intercept data and steal sensitive information
like credit card numbers. Thank goodness this early hysteria has faded and
respected journalists are now writing informative articles praising the
shopping convenience offered by the Internet. When you consider that
financial data has been transmitted for years between banks, ATM's,
airline reservations computers, stock exchanges and others, it is easy to
see that all kinds of commerce is (and has been) transacted online between
computers every day of our lives. Nevertheless, some people are
concerned about credit card security. Even though we believe that it is
more likely that someone's credit card number would be stolen from a
discarded carbon in a dumpster than on the Internet, here's what we've
done to provide for your safety:
- We use a secured server for all parts of the
transaction.
- Only ID Disk Co. (distributors of TransMedia products)
employees handle your order. We don't use a third
party service, whose employees we don't know, to process and ship your
orders. So no one, other than ID Disk Co. and TransMedia employees, ever has access to
your information.
- We've taken steps to give you a choice. When
you place an order with us, you can either process your credit card
transaction online for maximum convenience or you can call us directly
at 800-832-4980 ext. 2225.
- We don't receive any information from your computer
other than what you type in and transmit, fax or mail to us.
Further, we respect your privacy by not selling lists of our customers
to others. So visiting our Web site and ordering from us will
not cause your name to be placed on any junk mailing lists. We
value your continuing patronage and do not wish to do anything to
betray your trust in us.
